ATHLETES from across the country are being encouraged to sign up to this year’s Redcar Triathlon, which takes place on July 31, as the entry deadline nears.
The event, which is organised by Tri-Hard events in partnership with Redcar & Clevleand Borough Council, will accept entries until Sunday.
The annual Triathlon, a fast growing multi-sport event which involves swimming, cycling and running, will cater for up to 200 competitors.
It will be a “sprint” event, which is a 750m sea swim followed by a 20km cycle section along the Esplanade, finishing with a 5km run along the seafront towards Marske and back.
Cllr Carl Quartermain, cabinet member for jobs, skills and leisure at Redcar & Cleveland Borough Council, said: “The triathlon is open to people of all abilities, from seasoned athletes to those wanting to take part in a triathlon for the first time.
“The event will also be very spectator-friendly, so we welcome as many people as possible to join us at Redcar seafront on the day to witness this fantastic sport in action.”
