YOUNG cooks who want to sharpen their culinary skills are being invited to sign up for a masterclass.

Chefs from the Royal Academy of Culinary Arts will be at Saltburn Food Festival to help the youngsters to cook up a treat.

Isabelle Higgs, five, and seven-year-old Florence Hannaway are already looking forward to the festival, after developing new skills at last year’s event, and have been helping out in their kitchens at home ever since.

Chicken stir-fry, vegetable biryani, macaroni cheese, and pizza are all on the menu, all ingredients are provided, and all the youngsters will finish the workshops with a meal they’ve helped cook themselves plus a hat and an apron to take home.

Isabelle’s mother, Diana, an interior designer from Redcar said: “It was great to see Isabelle have so much fun with the chefs last year, and she’s enjoyed helping me in the kitchen at home ever since.”

There is a small subsidised ticket price of £4.50 per child for each Family Kitchen workshop, which are taking place throughout the day.

There are 30 places per workshop, and tickets need to be booked in advance at www.saltburnfoodfestival.co.uk for the festival on Sunday, July 31.
