FOOTBALL fans are being asked to show their support for the 'Voice of Boro' Ali Brownlee and raise money for charity at the same time.
A T-shirt sporting the words Boro fans chant in support of the Boro commentator "one of our own" have been produced with all profits raised going to the BBC's Children in Need charity.
The legendary voice of the Boro on BBC Tees has been diagnosed with bowel cancer.
And the fundraising idea has come from fans Dave Roberts and Chris Joseph, the former is a friend and former co-commentator with Alistair Brownlee while the latter was last season’s chairman of the Middlesbrough Official Supporters Club, where Alistair Brownlee is president.
Mr Roberts said: “It’s a simple message to let Ali know we are all behind him. He has become the voice of the Boro and it's great to see the football club, players and Boro fans show their full support of Ali. We all wish him a full and speedy recovery."
Former Boro midfielder Craig Hignett added: "It's a great idea, the fans can show their support for Ali and at the same time raise money for Children in Need. We are all behind Ali and hope he's back in the commentary box very soon."
The shirts can be purchased from both Middlesbrough Football Club shops as well as via the club's online site, Psyche store in Cleveland Centre, The House in Yarm and via MSV Sport in Middlesbrough and online at - msvteamwear.com
