VOLUNTEERS young and old were on Saltburn beach over the weekend to help pick up litter and ensure that the sands are 'barefoot' friendly.
The day was one of several around the country that was organised by campaign group Surfers Against Sewage, alongside sponsors Barefoot wine, throughout the summer to keep beaches, popular with members of the surfing community, clean.
People taking part were given a rescue project t-shirt and any necessary kit before being rewarded for their efforts with refreshments.
