A 16-YEAR-OLD girl sustained a fractured pelvis after the car she was in hit a lamppost.

Three males, also in the car, made off from the scene on the A1085 Coast Road in Marske, before police arrived shortly after 8.10pm on Thursday, April 10.

However, two other young women, one the driver, aged 17, and an 18-year-old passenger, stayed at the scene and were taken to James cook University Hospital with minor injuries.

All six people were in a red Vauxhall Corsa which crossed a grass verge before hitting the lamppost.

CAKE COMPETITION: Cake makers in Hartlepool are being challenged to take part in a St George’s Day baking competition and help local good causes at the same time.

The Mayor of Hartlepool Councillor Stephen Akers-Belcher is holding a Great Hartlepool Bake-Off to find the best of the town’s cakes and raise funds for his chosen cancer charities.

CAR BOOT: Monthly car boot sales are returning to a venue in Hartlepool starting Saturday, April 26 to give people the chance to sell unwanted items.

Summerhill, the 100-acre country park off Catcote Road, will play host to the regular car boot sales which will be held from 10am to 1pm. Organised by Hartlepool Council, they will be held on the last Saturday of each month throughout the summer months.

There is a capacity for 20 cars with a charge of £8 per vehicle. Admission to the public is 20p. For bookings, contact the Summerhill reception on 01429-284584.

CAR COLLISION: A 21-year-old woman suffered a broken arm after her Toyota Yaris was in collision with a white Vauxhall Insignia at 3.15pm on Tuesday, April 8 at the junction of Longlands Road and Marton Road in Middlesbrough.
