A COMMUNITY hub and library has closed for the winter while major refurbishment works are carried out.
Marton Library and Community Hub will reopen in April 2018 following improvement works inside and outside of the facility on The Willows, Middlesbrough.
The refurbishment will see the addition of a new meeting space and room for one to one advice and information surgeries as well as new lighting, heating and a toilet which is fully accessible to all.
Councilllor Mick Thompson, Middlesbrough Council’s executive member for culture and communities, said: “Marton Community Hub and Library is a very popular facility and we are excited about the improvements which will be unveiled in the new year.
“Some of these are cosmetic and a welcome facelift for the centre – but others, such as making the Hub Dementia Friendly and a toilet which is accessible to all are about creating a facility fit for the 21st Century.
“We are looking forward to the reopening in April and hope visitors to Marton Community Hub and Library will welcome the improvements.”
The library will also be redecorated throughout, incorporating dementia friendly principles, while external works will include some landscaping.
