FOOTBALL fans have raised more than £1,600 for charity with their ‘one of our own Brownlee’ t-shirts in memory of the legendary Middlesbrough commentator.

The shirts were sold across Teesside in memory of Ali Brownlee with all profits going to BBC Children in Need.

Produced by lifelong Boro supporters Chris Joseph and Dave Roberts, the motif on the shirt reflected how passionate the BBC Tees radio presenter was about his area.

Mr Roberts, who partnered Alastair in Century Radio’s Boro coverage said: “Ali will always be missed but I’m absolutely thrilled to see Teesside support him in the way they have. We owe huge debt of thanks to the Boro who helped tremendously by selling the shirts in the club shop and by having the players wear them during a warm up before a game.”

Ali Brownlee’s daughter Alison said: “Dad was such a positive person and I think he would have been so pleased to know that some good has come from all of this and that the amount raised will go to help those in need.”

In total £1,630 was been presented to his daughters Alison and Emily Brownlee.
