A SWIMMER preparing for this summer's Olympic Games in Brazil has secured sponsorship for her training.

Middlesbrough swimmer Aimee Willmott was recently selected as part of the 26-strong Team GB squad who will travel to South America to take part in Rio 2016 this August.

The 23-year-old has already competed in London 2012, the Commonwealth Games and the World Championships, and is now in training for Rio at London's Olympic Park-based Aquatic Centre with her coach Lisa Bates, also from Middlesbrough.

Law firm Endeavour Partnership are providing Aimee with sponsorship to help with her training programme in London in the run up to the Olympic Games.

Managing partner at Endeavour Partnership, Paul Bury, said: “Aimee is a real inspiration as she heads for her second Olympic Games. We’re really proud to be able to support her in her quest to go for gold as she truly does fly the flag not just for Team GB but the North East region.

"We’re really excited to see her compete over the summer in Rio and all of our team will be watching on TV I’m sure.

Ms Willmott said the sponsorship helped in the run-up to the games and said: "Not only is it nice to know that Teesside is fully behind me, it also allows me to access some extra training camps around the world which should give me a greater chance of success at the games. It's all very much appreciated."
