BUS lovers are in for a treat next weekend when a group of enthusiasts bring their passion to the roads of Teesside.
Members of the 500 Group is holding its 16th Teesside Bus Vintage Running Day on Sunday (April 24) from a base at the Middlesbrough side of the iconic Transporter Bridge.
The site will be the terminus for a series of bus routes to be operated for the day by beautifully restored vintage buses, many of which used to operate on Teesside and in the North East between the 1950s and the 1990s.
Passengers will be carried to Stockton High Street (stand J) and to Yarm Town Hall, and return, via a number of different routes. Buses will also call into Middlesbrough Bus Station (Stand 15) so that passengers can join in the fun from there as well.
Travel will be free but a souvenir ticket will be issued. A program, with a complete timetable, explaining which buses will be running on each route, together with full details of the routes used will be available from a “control” bus at the Transporter base.
