RESIDENTS will be able to quiz a leading police officer from the comfort of their own homes when he takes part in a Community Click web chat.

Assistant Chief Constable Simon Nickless' web chat follows the publication of information showing the demand placed on Cleveland Police on a ‘typical day’ and the nature of calls into the control room.

It highlighted that the force receives an average of 11 missing person reports per day, which takes around 18 hours of police time to resolve.

In addition, the force undertakes proactive work to support 660 high risk domestic abuse victims, 845 children and young people subject to child protection, and manages around 30 organised crime groups, and approximately 669 sexual offenders.

Mr Nickless said: "We’re still active in our communities, tackling crime and disrupting criminals – we’re one step ahead – but that’s largely thanks to our plans to adapt the force and collaborate with our neighbours.

"I know residents want to hear about these plans and about how we deploy our resources, so I would urge them to log on and put a question forward. The message from me is that we are here to help, and will continue to build on new ways to engage with local people.”

Anyone wishing to take part should visit cleveland.police.uk on Wednesday (August 26) between 6pm and 7pm.
