A MOTHER and son escaped unharmed from a blaze which took hold at their house yesterday.(Sunday)
Cleveland Fire Brigade was called at 5.41am to a report of a fire at a mid-terraced house on Woodville Avenue in Saltersgill, Middlesbrough.
Two fire crews from Middlesbrough Fire Station attended and used a hose reel and breathing apparatus to tackle the flames as well as ventilation equipment to clear the smoke-logged first floor. The fire was out by 6am.
A bathroom was damaged by fire and the first floor was smoke damaged. There were no casualties. Middlesbrough Fire Station watch manager Alan Pearson said: “We still haven’t determined the cause yet but it’s a good thing the occupants had their fire alarm fitted and working properly.”
