A WOMAN was punched unconscious and another repeatedly hit in the face in Middlesbrough, police have revealed.

The attacks happened at 3.40am on Sunday, November 23 but police have just revealed CCTV images of a man who they hope might be able to help officers catch the thug.

The attacker was walking with a 25-year-old woman on Zetland Road when he punched her, causing he to fall to the floor and lose consciousness.

A second woman, aged 35, then challenged the male before he punched her to the face a number of times. The man then made off in the direction of Last Orders pub.

The 35-year-old woman was left with broken bones in her hand and broken ribs. The 25-year-old woman, although knocked unconscious for a short time, did not suffer any visible injuries.

A spokeswoman for Cleveland Police said officers would like to speak to the man in the CCTV pictures as it is believed that he may be able to assist with their enquiries. Another man was arrested in connection with the beatings but was later eliminated from enquiries.
