A MAN in his 30s was released on police bail tonight (SUNDAY) after being arrested in connection with a robbery in which Subway staff were allegedly threatened at knifepoint.
Officers from Cleveland Police, including the dog section and police helicopter, attended the Trunk Road area in Middlesbrough after a report of a robbery at the Subway restaurant in Low Grange Farm, Eston, last night (Saturday).
No-one was injured in the incident, at about 6.50pm, although suspects were reported to have been armed with bladed weapons and escaped with an amount of cash. Police said investigations were ongoing.
The man was questioned by detectives today before being released on bail. Police are urging anyone with information to contact Cleveland Police on the non-emergency number 101 or anonymously via Crimestoppers on 0800-555-111.
