APPRENTICESHIPS for young people will be in the spotlight at a special event in Middlesbrough.

The apprenticeship ‘Pop Up Shop’ will be open for business in the Hillstreet Centre tomorrow (Thursday, November 13).

The event has been organised by Middlesbrough Council in partnership with Middlesbrough Community Learning and the Hillstreet Centre to give young people, parents and employers an opportunity to find out more about the benefits of apprenticeships.

The council's employment and skills manager Julie Broadbent said: “Apprenticeships are the key to success for many young people.

“They are a great way for young people to earn while they learn in a real job, gaining valuable work experience and achieving qualifications to set them on the road to success in their chosen career.

“The aim of the Pop Up Shop is to provide advice and guidance on apprenticeships and a drop-in service to local employers who might be considering taking on apprentices.”

A range of information will be available at the event, as well as advice from Middlesbrough Community Learning staff to help young people access the options open to them locally..

The Pop Up Shop will be held in Centre Square in the Hillstreet Centre Middlesbrough (near to Muffin Break and Primark) from 10am to 3pm.
