A YOUNG boy has been taken to hospital after suffering head and facial injuries after being knocked over.
The incident took place on Milbank Road in Hartlepool around 4.30pm yesterday.
The North East Ambulance Service said the five-year-old boy had been taken by ambulance to James Cook University Hospital in Middlesbrough.
The Great North Air Ambulance have confirmed that he suffered head and facial injuries, but said they are not life threatening.
He is believed to be in a stable condition.
A Great North Air Ambulance Service (GNAAS) spokesman said: "We were called to assist the North East Ambulance Service with a child who had reportedly been knocked over by a car.
"He was treated on scene by the crew before being transported by land ambulance accompanied by the GNAAS team."
