TIME is running out for people to get early-bird entry for Hartlepool's Big Lime Triathlon and take advantage of a special offer.

Competitors who beat the end-of-the-month deadline will receive a free cycling top.

The event, which is open to both experienced athletes and amateurs, is being organised by Hartlepool Council with support from British Triathlon.

The challenge is a 750m open water swim, a 20km cycle ride and a 5km run, with the town’s marina and neighbouring Seaton Carew providing the backdrops.

As well as competitors, organisers are looking to recruit more volunteer marshals to ensure the event runs smoothly.

There are currently around 15-20 regulars who get involved every year, but the Council hopes to have around 50 marshals by the time of event on October 1.

  • Individual entry costs £35 for British Triathlon members – £40 for non-members – and £51 for teams competing on a relay basis. To enter or get more information visit gethartlepoolactive.co.uk/triathlon
