A MAN was injured after being hit by flying bricks after a suspected stolen car smashed into the garden wall of a neighbouring house.

Police are tonight appealing for information after a VW Golf hit the front garden wall of a house in Wynyard Road, Hartlepool, on Saturday (October 8) at 10pm.

The occupants of the car fled and officers are urging them to come forward.

One of the men was described as wearing a white vest with heavily tattooed arms.

Cleveland Police said that the impact of the Golf hitting the wall sent bricks flying through the front window bof the neighbouring house injuring a 57-year-old man inside.

He was taken to the University Hospital of North Tees with a knee injury.

Anyone who saw the car prior to the collision, witnessed the collision itself or anyone who knows the identity of the occupants should call PC William Parker of the Cleveland and Durham Specialist Operations Unit on 101, quoting Event 184783.
