THE owners of a leisure complex on Teesside say it's business as usual after the site was closed due to safety fears.

The operators of the Sports Domes at Seaton Carew, near Hartlepool, also hit out at people they said had made "hurtful and unwarranted remarks on social media".

One of two "sports domes" at the site deflated on Tuesday, with police being called due to safety fears.

The Northern Echo:

The message posted on the company's website.

The Northern Echo understands that the electricity at the site had been cut off, causing one of the inflatable domes to go down.

The Sports Domes offer indoor golf and football pitches as well as a "fitness zone".

Police confirmed they were called to the site over fears the deflated dome could blow away in winds on Tuesday.

But the site was secured and the dome reinflated - believed to be by a generator.

Speculation had mounted about why the dome had collapsed, with people raising concerns about bookings for the weekend.

All three telephone numbers at the site were out of order, and director Brian Morton could not be contacted for comment.

A statement on the company's website on Thursday, however, said it was business as usual.

"The Sports Domes are pleased to announce that the integral issue that has affected business this week has now been resolved and it is business as usual at The Sports Domes," the spokesman wrote.

"Apologies for any inconvenience caused and we would like all the undesirable characters who have made hurtful and unwarranted remarks on social media to crawl back under your stones.

"We are aware of whom you are."
