A CARE home operator which failed to notify the healthcare regulator that residents had suffered serious pressure wounds on two separate occasions has been fined.

The Care Quality Commission (CQC) said Tamaris Healthcare (England) Limited had not responded within required timescales about incidents affecting residents at Warrior Park Care Home, in Seaton Carew, Hartlepool.

The charge came about after a review of care records and discussions with staff. The CQC subsequently issued a fixed penalty notice totalling £1,250 which had been accepted and paid in full.

Debbie Westhead, CQC’s deputy chief inspector of adult social care in the North, said: “The failures on this occasion to inform CQC of a number of very serious incidents and events, affecting the care provided to people living at the home is unacceptable.

“Tamaris Healthcare (England) Limited has now paid the fine in full and we will continue to monitor the home closely as part of our regulatory responsibilities.”

Parent company Four Seasons said the fine was as a result of administrative failures and an improvement programme had been carried out.
