NORTHERN Powergrid has launched an appeal to encourage the local community to help find metal thieves who targeted the company’s electricity power network causing a power cut to retails outlets at Anchor Retail Park in Hartlepool impacting businesses and local shoppers. A reward of up to £1,000 is being offered for any information which helps lead to the arrest and charging of the culprits who stole 60 metres of cable from the substation on Marina Way in Hartlepool. Anyone who saw any suspicious activity near the substation on September 2 should contact Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800-555-111.
