ARTISTS and designers have put their talents on display at the opening night of their degree show.

Students from Cleveland College of Art & Design’s (CCAD) university campus in Hartlepool exhibited their work to family, friends and invited guests from the fashion, design and related industries on Thursday (June 4).

The evening, which included an outdoor catwalk showcasing innovative designs, began a nine-day exhibition where members of the public are invited to view students’ work at the college in Church Square.

The final degree work of twelve departments is being displayed, including Textiles and Surface Design, Fine Art, Illustration and Creative Film.

Glenn Todd, 22, from Normanby in Middlesbrough, who is a final year student on the Textiles and Surface Design degree, is specialising in interior surface design, his final major project takes on a ‘Retro-pop’ theme, mixing images from the 1960s with modern techniques.

He said: “Both my family and friends will be visiting the show and I’m excited to show them how all my hard work has paid off.

“I am extremely lucky in that I have been chosen to exhibit at New Designers 2015 at Business Design Centre, London, later this month.”

The event allows design students to make trade contacts and network with other designers.

Darran Milburn, 44, also from Middlesbrough, completed his BA (hons.) degree in photography by winning the award for the best fine art work. His exhibition, ‘KoolHandFluke’ presents striking images of deserted industrial estates.

The exhibition at CCAD, Church Square, Hartlepool runs until Saturday June 14.
