POLICE are to review the case of missing Hartlepool man Scott Fletcher who was last seen four years ago.

Cleveland Police will re-interview witnesses in the hope they can provide new clues as to what happened to Mr Fletcher.

Since he disappeared on May 11, 2011, police and his family have continued to appeal for information from members of the public.

The last reported sighting was of a man believed to be Mr Fletcher who was last seen in the lay-by opposite the Jet garage on the A181, at Wheatley Hill, in County Durham, at about 8.20pm.

Detective Superintendent Jon Green, who is leading on the investigation, said: “We remain open minded to the possibility that he may have come to some harm and revisiting some of the witnesses in the case may uncover new information to piece together where and why he went.

“Scott was last seen in the lay-by opposite the Jet garage on the A181 at Wheatley Hill in Durham four years ago today and his family are still enduring the agony of not knowing what exactly happened to him. They have been informed we will be reviewing the case and have given their support in a bid to urge people to come forward.

“Whilst Scott was in some debt prior to his disappearance and was known to the criminal fraternity, we believe there are people who may be with-holding information from us, but with the passage of time they may now feel they can get in touch about what they know."

Officers have visited a number of areas, including Liverpool, Cumbria and Durham where Mr Fletcher had links in an attempt to trace the father-of-one.

He was 27 when he went missing and has a daughter, Lucie, and stepson Bradley.

In the intervening years since he disappeared, his mother, Julie Fletcher has made repeated appeals for information.

Anyone with information is asked to contact Cleveland Police on the non-emergency number 101 or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800-555-111.
