A MAN has been arrested following reports he was seen walking through a town centre brandishing a Samurai sword.
Police were called after the man was spotted in the Church Street area of Hartlepool at about 9.40pm last night (Thursday, February 19).
A Cleveland Police spokeswoman said: “Police received a report of a man believed to be in possession of a samurai sword in the Church Street area at around 9.40pm last night, (Thursday, February 19).
“He was detained in nearby flats and nobody was injured in the incident. A 31-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of possession of an offensive weapon in a public place and he remains in police custody this morning.”
