THREE landmark tower blocks in a Teesside town have undergone a £10m revamp, with feature lighting on the roof.

Billingham's high rise blocks, Kennedy Gardens in the town centre, have undergone structural repairs and new, interactive lights have been installed at the top of each tower.

In addition to giving the blocks new render, insulation and fire alarms Tristar Homes has also installed solar panels, built 12 new apartments and built three new community rooms.

The interactive lights at the top of each building can be programmed into a range of sequences and were switched on for the first time watched by residents and other invited guests.

Dave Pickard, lead executive for Tristar Homes, said: "Kennedy Gardens has been given a completely new lease of life with fantastic input from tenants to build a development the whole town can be proud of.

“Our regular meetings with people affected by the project have led to a tailor-made site that includes extended balconies with additional living space and mobility scooter rooms, as well as a major landscaping project and feature lighting on the roof.

“The residents told us what they would want in an ideal living environment and we have worked with them to match those aspirations."

Kennedy Gardens also has barrier controlled residential parking with electric car charging points, new street lighting and a new sculpture, after customers were asked to trace around their fingers to make a ‘Tree of Hands’.
