CUSTOMERS at a petrol station tackled a robber this evening (Monday, November 3) and held him until police could arrive.
Cleveland Police received a call for assistance from the Warren Service Station in Easington Road, Hartlepool, at 6.50pm.
They arrived to find customers had "detained a male suspected of attempting a robbery".
During the incident a minor fire was started which was quickly extinguished by firefighters.
The man was taken into police custody where he was helping with inquiries.
