A TEENAGER has suffered serious injuries and another young pedestrian taken to hospital following a hit-and-run incident outside a nightclub.
The collision happened at 1.15am today, outside the three-storey Empire nightclub on Corporation Road in Middlesbrough.
Cleveland Police said the driver of a blue Dodge Avenger which had white stripes along the bodywork collided with two young male pedestrians outside the Victorian venue, which has played host to a variety of performers including Charlie Chaplin, Laurel and Hardy, The Scissor Sisters, Arctic Monkeys and Kasabian.
The driver failed to stop and the two pedestrians, aged 18 and 20 years old, were taken to James Cook University Hospital, Middlesbrough.
A police spokesman said: "The younger victim has serious injuries whilst the 20-year-old has only minor injuries."
- Anyone who witnessed the incident or saw the vehicle before the collision should call police on 101.
