A SUPPORTER of a local charity is celebrating after winning £10,000.

Kevin Wilson, of Normanby, Middlesbrough, is the first jackpot rollover winner of £10,000 courtesy of Teesside Hospice Lotto.

He said "I was quite shocked and amazed to receive a call with the news that I had won the hospice rollover prize. It took a little while to sink in."

Having been a member of the lottery since 1997, Mr Wilson said he had decided to support Teesside Hospice after his mother died. " My wife and I wanted to give something back to the local community and support a good cause so we decided to join the Teesside Hospice Lotto and happily paid our entry each month without much thought that we would actually win the jackpot."

Teesside Hospice Lotto costs £1 a week and offers the chance to win up to £2,000, a prize that can increase up to £10,000.

Since the Lotto launched in 1995, it has raised over £8m in aid of Teesside Hospice.

To join, players must be aged 16 or over. For more information, call the team on 01642-814455 or visit teessidehospice.org
