A NEW scheme has been launched for the recycling of low energy lightbulbs.
Stockton Borough Council has installed a number of specially designed containers for members of the public to drop off their old bulbs thanks to a collaboration with recycling specialist Recolight.
They have been placed in venues across the across the borough - Tesco in Ingleby Barwick, Eaglescliffe, Norton, Billingham and Asda at Portrack Lane, in Stockton.
Launching the scheme, Councillor David Rose, said: "These five containers from Recolight will provide amuch needed service and supports the council's commitment to continue reducing and recycling waste in the borough."
Nigel Harvey, of Recolight, said: "This is an important and exciting partnership which will open up vital new channels for the public to recycle their old low energy lightbulbs.
"People want to recycle their old bulbs but are often unsure of where the nearest facilities are. These containers will be visible to thousands of consumers every week, and we hope that this will help make a difference to recycling in the local area."
