SET and prop designers at a Teesside college are to see their work on the big screen after it was selected for a Channel 4 film.

Renowned director Bob Lee chose students Alison Lee and Dan Martin from Cleveland College of Art & Designs (CCAD) entertainment design crafts and costume construction course to help produce props and sets for his animated production Tomorrow.

The film was commissioned by Channel 4, the UK Film Council and Northern Film and Media as part of the Channel 4 4Mations Scheme.

It has already been screened at the Encounters Film Festival in Bristol and Animex in Middlesbrough and the sets were displayed at Teesside University as part of the Animex festival.

The appointment followed a visit to the college by up and coming film producers working in the North-East and key industry mentors including the financial controller for the Oscar winning Slumdog Millionaire.

Tony Shaw, programme leader for the BA Hons entertainments and design crafts course at CCAD, said: "We have some very talented young designers who have gone on to work on productions including Dr Who and the new Andrew Lloyd Webber musical Love Never Dies.

"The work that Alison and Dan produced for the film is outstanding. I have seen some stills and they look amazing and its great to know that our little corner of the world is now firmly on the film industry map."

Tomorrow will appear on Channel 4 later in the year.
