A WORLD-renowned 3D visual effects artist has been flown to the region to transform a haunted house attraction.

York Maze, which has been running it’s Hallowscream event since 2010, has brought in Stuart M Smith from America.

He has been running his Michigan-based Stuartizm Designs company for the past 20 years and has applied his 3D artwork to over 300 haunted house attractions around the world.

He explained: “In a UV light the DayGlo paint I use makes the primary colours really stand out. They are impressive even without the 3D glasses, but when you put the glasses on the 3D effects springs to life with red in the foreground, green in the middle and blue at the back.

"I also incorporate special ‘invisible’ paint in my designs which only shows up when lit with UV light.”

York Maze's Tom Pearcy said: “I went to the States earlier in the year and got to see some of the amazing artwork Stuart has created in haunted houses over there. We have commissioned Stuart to apply his trademark 3D artwork to 'Barnageddon', one of our five haunted house attractions."

Hallowscream opens between October 12 and November 3. For details visit yorkmazehallowscream.co.uk
