GLORIOUS sunshine brought out huge crowds in Boroughbridge to watch the historic first freedom parade for a regiment recently returned from Germany.
Just 14 months since returning to the UK, Dishforth-based 6 Regiment Royal Logistic Corps, was awarded the honour of the Freedom of Boroughbridge.
And hundreds of soldiers from the Regiment exercised that right by marching through the town with bayonets raised.
Commanding officer Lieutenant Colonel Tim Crossland, said: “We as a regiment have forged strong links with our neighbours in Boroughbridge since we arrived and it was a great honour to receive the freedom of the town.
“It was a day of celebrations for all and the turnout from the people of Boroughbridge was absolutely fantastic.
"The soldiers provided an immaculate parade and the crowds gave warm and generous support throughout making us feel very much at home.”
The regiment was accompanied by a military band and formed up in the town square where they received the honour from the Mayor of Boroughbridge, Councillor Peter Phillips.
The parade was then inspected by the Lord Lieutenant of North Yorkshire, Barry Dodd, and Brigadier Jonathon Blair-Tidewell.
