PLANS for a new 3,000-home settlement west of York will go on display as developers prepare to submit a planning application.

Oakgate Group is urging local residents to come along to the consultation event at Green Hammerton village hall between 3pm and 7.30pm today - and help shape its future masterplan for "Maltkiln Village."

It intends to submit an outline planning application to Harrogate Borough Council shortly but says it will take on board all comments it received.

Managing director Richard France said the development would cover an area of approximately 166 hectares, centred around Cattal railway station, on the York-Harrogate line.

“Maltkiln Village would be a sustainable and well-connected new settlement, with Cattal railway station at its heart,” he said.

“Our vision is to create a new ‘lifetime’ community, providing homes for first time buyers, family homes and homes for later life, supported by key infrastructure, community facilities."
