A BURGLAR who wore a high-visibility jacket to break in to accommodation for vulnerable people is being hunted by police.

Witnesses said the man wore the fluorescent yellow jacket as he and one or two other burglars forced their way into the Adelphi sheltered housing complex, in Cold Bath Road, Harrogate at about 3am on Sunday.

Nothing was taken, but the building was damaged.

The burglars are described as white and one was wearing a sleeveless top.

The men were also believed to have caused a disturbance on Cold Bath Road at around the same time.

A North Yorkshire Police spokesman said: "Officers are conducting enquiries and are requesting the public’s assistance to help determine the full circumstances surrounding the incident."

Police are keen to speak to anyone who was in the area at the time and may have witnessed something, in partiucular any passing motorists.
