A WOMAN who was delivering a mobility scooter she had bought for her mother-in-law escaped serious injury after crashing into a bus.

Emergency crews were called to Poppleton Road, York, on Saturday, after the woman was thrown off the scooter and bruised her knees.

A five-year-old girl, who she had been carrying on her lap, suffered a broken wrist and cut her arm.

Police and an ambulance attended the scene of the incident at 3.50pm on Saturday, and confirmed two people had been taken to hospital.

The woman’s husband, Shane Fowler said his wife had been on her way to deliver the scooter to his mother when the incident happened on Lindsey Avenue.

He said: “My wife and I bought a mobility scooter for my mother and she was taking it to her because it wouldn’t fit in her car.

“I told her to ride it on the flat and not on the hill, but she didn’t.

“She took my five-year-old daughter with her.”

The pair are understood to be recovering at home.
