POLICE have issued an appeal to trace a suspected fraudster.
Jeremy Scott, 50, is wanted on suspicion of fraud by false representation.
Using the name Jeremy Fulton, it is suspected he has portrayed himself as a wealthy businessman with high-profile friends and associates, in order to obtain money from a woman for a business deal which never happened.
Scott has previous convictions for defrauding vulnerable people, mainly women, out of thousands of pounds.
Extensive police enquiries are ongoing to locate him. He is believed to be in the York, Harrogate or Easingwold area.
Anyone who recognises Scott, or has any information about his whereabouts, is asked to contact North Yorkshire Police. Dial 101, select option two and ask for Sergeant Amanda Hanusch-Moore, or Harrogate Neighbourhood Policing Team.
