CLASSIC mechanical workhorses of the land will come under the spotlight next month when a number of rare vintage tractors go under the hammer.

Among the 800 lots at the Cheffins Harrogate Vintage Sale on Harrogate’s Great Yorkshire Showground on August 20 will be a spectacular and much-desired David Brown “Thresherman”.

Previously such models have sold for more than £25,000 and because of its good condition this particular tractor is expected to sell in the same region.

Another highlight is a pair of 1969 David Brown 780 Selectamatics, which have been kept together since their manufacture and share consecutive number plates.

They still have their their original card logbooks and are expected to sell as a pair for more than £11,000

And an immaculate 1966 Massey Ferguson 135 Multi-Power with less than 1,000 hours on the clock is expected to achieve in the region of £12,000.

Cheffins director William King said: “This year’s sale is offering some incredibly rare tractors and some real collectors’ items which have been immaculately restored.”
