ONE of the region’s oldest people has died at the age of 105.

Violet Harrison was a mother of seven, grandmother of 13 and great grandmother of 13.

Born in Peterborough and raised in Bradford, she died at Harrogate’s Emmaus House care home on January 20.

Her husband Albert died in 1998 and her family described her as their “bedrock” for many decades who “set an example that few could match.”

Mrs Harrison had lived at Emmaus House since she was 103 and the family praised the Christian care home for “the most remarkable care and kindness we have ever seen.”

Daughter Ruth Eaton, 73, said: “The staff were truly superb in every respect, providing a rare and exceptional standard of care and comfort.”

The funeral will be held at Thornton Cemetery, Bradford, on February 5 when she will be laid to rest alongside her late husband.
