POLICE searching for a man alleged to have filmed a girl on a station platform before following her onto a train have located a suspect.
A 16-year-old from Middlesbrough noticed the man taking her pictures and filming her while she waited for a train at Darlington train station on Sunday, June 14.
When she boarded her train, the man is alleged to have followed and stood opposite her and continued to take photographs and videos.
Speaking at the time, PC Tony McGhin, of British Transport Police (BTP), said: “The victim attempted to move carriages but was again followed by the man. At this point she turned around and challenged him about his behaviour. He alighted from the train at Durham and ran off."
British Transport Police (BTP) have now confirmed that, following a public appeal, a 26-year-old York man has been identified, interviewed under caution and reported for the offence.
