A CYCLIST sustained minor injuries after he was kicked and punched by a raging motorist.

The victim was cycling along Salters Lane in Sedgefield, County Durham, on Tuesday, June 2 when he became embroiled in a road rage incident at about 6.20pm.

He was then followed by the motorist to Rowan Oval in the town, where he was kicked in the shin and punched to the side of his cycle helmet.

The male suspect is described as being about 5’8” and of stocky build with black hair.

Police believe he may have been wearing light khaki trousers and a dark blue shirt.

He was driving a blue Ford Escort or similar vehicle with a possible registration number of E06 NGO.

To date, the vehicle and suspect have not been traced and police are urging anyone with information to contact officers on 101 quoting incident number DHM-02062015-0388.
