A MOTHER and daughter survived unhurt when their car was hit by a tree during the gales in North Yorkshire.
The accident happened at 8.40pm on Monday, June 1, on an unclassified road just off theA64 between Rillington and Scampston, near Malton.
Paramedics attended and checked out the woman and her daughter, but they were both unharmed and did not need hospital treatment.
"The police officer who attended the accident said they were very lucky," said a police spokesman.
A number of other trees were blown down in the county as gusts of wind reached 50mph or more, including one that fell into the road near Queen Mary’s School at Topcliffe near Thirsk at about 10.10pm.
