A DRINKER was struck in the face with a glass as he stood in a bar with friends during a night out in York.

The glass shattered on impact, causing lacerations to his face and eyelid and he was rushed to hospital for treatment.

His treatment included stitches to his eyelid which will require follow-up visits to ensure no permanent damage has been caused.

The victim, a man in his 20s, was in Kennedy’s Café Bar on Little Stonegate when the attack happened at about 9.10pm on Easter Sunday.

PC Hayley Rowbotham said: “The bar was very busy at the time and I am appealing to anyone who was in Kennedy’s at around 9pm to 9.30pm on Sunday night to contact us, along with anyone who can help identify the suspect.

“A man who was enjoying a night out with friends has sustained serious injuries to his face which require long term treatment. It is vital that the person responsible is brought to justice.”
