IMMIGRATION officers and North Yorkshire police have raided a nail salon as part of an operation to crackdown on human trafficking.
They went to a nail bar, American Nails in Stonegate in York, this morning (Tuesday, March 17), as part of a co-ordinated operation throughout the country which also involved 17 premises in London and Berkshire.
Ten officers entered the shop in York with Home Office immigration enforcement officials to question the occupants about human trafficking.
Det Chief Insp Rebecca Mears from Thames Valley Police, who led the operation said the aim was "to protect vulnerable people", She said victims are being looked after in rest centres while investigations are carried out.
