A WOMAN was pushed into the road and received a head wound as she walked home after socialising with a friend.

The woman, in her 40s, was walking along Windsor Terrace in Whitby when she was assaulted sometime between 11.30pm and midnight on Friday.

She was deliberately pushed into the road by an unknown offender and was forced to seek hospital treatment.

The offender did not attempt to take any personal property and the attack was completely unprovoked.

Police are appealing to anyone who was in the area at the time and witnessed the incident or has any other information that could assist the investigation, to contact them.
