A WOMAN was seriously injured after falling from Whitby quayside into the harbour yesterday.
The incident took place at 4.20pm.
The woman was hurt in the fall and was rescued from the water by members of the public.
Whitby RNLI was called to the scene and launched its inshore life boat.
The crew helped stabilise the woman at the scene and took her to Tate Hill beach where the Yorkshire Air Ambulance landed.
She was then flown to Middlesbrough's James Cook University Hospital.
Whitby RNLI mechanic Richard Dowson said: "The crew responded quickly to reach the casualty, they then worked together to transfer the casualty safely to the air ambulance which was waiting nearby."
