WHITBY-born Downton Abbey star Joanne Froggatt admitted she will be completely star struck at the Golden Globes, even though she is a regular on the red carpet.

Froggatt, who is nominated for a gong for her role as Anna Bates in the soapy period drama, said she was recently left speechless when sharing a lift with director Quentin Tarantino.

Speaking at Bafta Los Angeles' annual tea party ahead of the awards show on Sunday, Froggatt said: "I did have a moment on Thursday night. We shared a lift with Quentin Tarantino and I got out and was like, 'That's OK, my week is made because I shared a lift with Quentin Tarantino'.

"I didn't pluck up the courage to speak to him or say hello but I will if I see him again. Reservoir Dogs is one of my favourite films of all times. So that's why I was a bit like, 'Oh my goodness, one of my favourite ever directors'."

The actress, who scored a Globe for best supporting TV actress at last year's ceremony, said she would love a role in one of his films but added: "I think he has quite a few people lobbying him already. He wouldn't thank another actress bugging him for a role but it would be lovely to meet him at some point."

She added she is still holding out hope that there will be a Downton Abbey film now the television series has concluded, saying: "It is still on the cards but we don't know anything, so it will be in the future, certainly everyone is feeling very positive about it but there is no script and no talk of dates yet. It depends if they can get everyone together again at the same time, it will be a logistical nightmare but worth it if they can pull it all together."
