A NEW community fundraiser has been appointed for the Marie Curie cancer charity in North Yorkshire.
Jennifer Carmichael’s new role will involve developing fundraising relationships in the community and supporting a network of groups and volunteers in their quest to raise vital funds for the charity.
She will also be responsible for managing annual campaigns and collections, including the Great Daffodil Appeal and the Blooming Great Tea Party, promoting major events and raising awareness of Marie Curie locally.
Ms Carmichael has volunteered for local charities for the last two years and raised almost £5,000 in 2014 after climbing Mount Kilimanjaro.
“One of my key priorities is to encourage new members to join our fundraising groups, particularly in the Whitby and Scarborough area, and to recruit more members to the charity,” she said.
