A WOMAN has died in hospital four days after being injured when the car she as travelling in collided with a wall.

The crash happened at about 4.40pm on June 3 in East Ayton, near Scarborough, when a blue Mini Countryman left the road and collided with a wall.

The driver of then Mini, a 74-year-old woman from the Scarborough area, was taken to hospital with slight injuries and later discharged.

Her passenger, a 66-year-old woman also from the Scarborough area, was seriously hurt and taken to James Cook Hospital in Middlesbrough, where she died on June 7.

Traffic Sergeant Ian Pope said: "This is a tragic incident that has had significant impact on the family and friends of those involved.

β€œIt is important that we establish the exact circumstances of the collision and what led to the Mini leaving the road and hitting the wall.

β€œI am therefore appealing to anyone who either saw a blue Mini Countryman travelling along Carr Lane before the crash and to anyone who witnessed the collision, to contact us.”
