PLAY time has become more fun for a village’s children after extra equipment was added to their park.
The outdoor play area at Raskelf, near Easingwold, was in need of modernisation and it now boasts a multi play tower as part of its range of equipment thanks to a council grant.
The parish council received the money through Hambleton District Council’s ‘Making a Difference Fund’.
The bid was backed by ward member Councillor Caroline Patmore and the award supports the council’s priority for enhancing health and wellbeing and providing a special place to live.
Councillor Guy Brown, Chair of Raskelf Parish Council, said: “Our existing play park had become tired looking, out of date and offered our children no real opportunities to challenge themselves.
“Young families were having to travel outside of the village to find suitable play parks and grandparents who did not feel up to travelling were left feeling isolated and unable to offer the children in their care any challenging outdoor activities.
“Now thanks to the district council grant we have new modern play equipment and in addition the parish council has brightened up the play park and installed seating and picnic areas to create a meeting place for parents and grandparents to socialise with other members of the community.”
