THIS year’s grand annual jumble sale will take place at Coxwold Village Hall on Saturday, February 10 at 1.30pm.

The proceeds will go towards ambitious plans to improve the hall in the village between Thirsk and Easingwold, North Yorkshire. The committee’s main aim is to refurbish the kitchen and bar, improve access to the main hall and committee room with new doorways, create permanent storage solutions and a multi-media suite and free up the snooker room and snooker table.

It is also hoped to restore the main hall floor, as well as purchase a new tractor/mower to maintain the playing fields in the best condition possible.

A spokesperson said: "We are very proud of Coxwold and want to improve and enhance the facilities for all residents. These are ambitious plans, so we are therefore looking to raise £150,000 with the help of fund-raising events, individual donors, corporate supporters and charitable trusts, such as the National Lottery and the Garfield Weston Foundation.

"As well as regular groups for coffee mornings, soup and sandwich lunches, bridge, art, crafts and yoga we have several larger evening events coming up. These include Rural Arts ON Tour on March 23, a Call My Bluff wine tasting on April 13 and an Italian evening on May 12."
