A RALLYING call has gone out to Thirsk residents to support a Christmas lights fund to ensure the town is more festive than ever this year.
Each year the ladies group of Thirsk and District Business Association fundraises tirelessly to find the £15,000 needed to install, insure, run and remove Thirsk’s Christmas lights.
This year the group is hoping to expand the lights along Finkle Street, and is calling on residents to ‘buy a bulb’ for £5 to help raise the additional £3,500 needed.
Jill Miller from the group said: “We hope that everyone in Thirsk and the surrounding area will support this wonderful cause.
“We want to make our town proud this year, and to make it the most festive yet.”

The lights will be officially switched on on November 24.
